Last year, States of Minds was pleased to announce its new partner La Cinémathèque, the premier showcase for film and cinematic arts in Israel.
The main festival venue was located in La Cinémathèque Tel Aviv, and Haifa and Herzilya were also festival hosts.

To further mutual understanding and explore American ideals of pluralism:
In 2015 our film selection focused on the diversity of American society. Our films embraced the wide spectrum of communities that comprise America – ethnic, racial, religious, socio-economic, gender-based and immigrant.

Black or White is a film based on the real events surrounding the custody battle for a young girl (Jillian Estell) who is loved by both her paternal African American family and maternal White American family. The film highlights the cultural experiences of two seemingly different cultures only to discover that life is not one way or another - life is not black or white. Kevin Costner plays the girl’s maternal grandfather and Octavia Spencer plays her grandmother.

Below Dreams

Below Dreams is a poetic journey following the lives of three young adults as they navigate the streets of New Orleans in pursuit of employment, stardom and unconditional love. Heir to an Execution: A Granddaughter’s Story

The trial and execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg during the height of the Cold War shook America.
